Curious, nervous, or wondering whether your loved one will come through? Here is what you should know before your first reading.

Your first mediumship reading should begin with an explanation of how the medium works, followed by impressions and details you can assess for yourself. In my sessions, I focus on recognizable information about loved ones in spirit. You can ask questions, respond honestly, and say when something does not fit. No particular connection or message is guaranteed.

Now that we have the practical part covered, let's talk about the butterflies. Maybe you have been thinking about booking for years. Maybe you miss someone terribly. Or maybe you are curious, but you are not entirely sure what you believe. You are welcome here.

And if you are worried I will reveal your deepest, darkest secrets, relax. I'm a medium, not your nosy neighbor with binoculars.

What is a mediumship reading?

A mediumship reading is a spiritual session focused on communication with someone who has died. As an evidential psychic medium, I aim to share information that helps you recognize the person I believe is communicating, rather than offering only a general message about love.

That information may include personality traits, relationships, meaningful memories, interests, mannerisms, or details from someone's life. I interpret what I receive, which means there is room for uncertainty and mistakes. You should never feel you have to make the information fit.

For me, the heart of this work is the relationship. The familiar sense of humor. The little habits. The qualities that made your person your person.

What happens during a mediumship reading with me?

We begin by getting you comfortable

I explain my approach and how we will communicate during the session. You do not need to arrive knowing the terminology or pretending to feel perfectly calm. This is not a spiritual entrance exam.

I share impressions and recognizable details

I begin describing the impressions I receive and the person I believe they relate to. I may describe someone's character, a family connection, or a memory. The aim is to give you something you can consider honestly, not something you feel obliged to agree with.

You respond without supplying the whole story

A simple yes, no, or I'm not sure is useful feedback. You can clarify something when needed, but you do not need to fill in every blank or tell me your loved one's biography before I begin.

We make room for the messages and emotions

As the reading develops, we may explore memories, emotional themes, or messages I associate with the connection. There may be tears, laughter, or quiet reflection. Remembering someone does not have to be solemn every second, especially when they were the person who could never resist a good joke.

Will the loved one I want to hear from come through?

You are allowed to hope for a particular person. I understand how much that can matter. But mediumship is not a telephone directory, and I cannot promise contact with a specific loved one or a particular answer.

Sometimes a reading unfolds as you hoped. Sometimes it does not. An unclear or disappointing reading is not evidence that your loved one is rejecting you, and it is not your fault for being nervous, skeptical, or emotional.

Your relationship does not depend on what happens in one appointment.

How much should I tell the medium beforehand?

For my mediumship readings, I prefer not to receive a detailed personal history beforehand. Basic booking information is enough unless your appointment instructions request something else.

That gives me the opportunity to share information without already knowing the story. During the reading, your honest feedback matters. Please do not agree out of politeness. You are not responsible for making the session look successful.

What if I cry, feel skeptical, or do not understand something?

Then that is what we make room for. You do not need to apologize for crying, and you do not have to adopt my beliefs to be treated with care.

When an impression does not make sense, say so. Some details may become clearer later, but you do not need to launch an ancestry investigation to rescue every statement. It is okay for something to remain unrecognized or simply be incorrect.

You can also ask for clarification or say that a subject feels too personal. Your boundaries matter throughout the reading.

Can I have my first mediumship reading online?

I offer online readings as well as the other options listed on my services page. For an online appointment, choose a private, comfortable space and follow the connection instructions in your booking confirmation. Being at home can give you room to have your own response without worrying about the drive afterward.

A simple checklist before your first reading

  • Review the session length, format, price, and policies before booking.

  • For an online session, charge your device, check your connection, and choose a quiet place.

  • Bring water, tissues, and any questions you want to remember, without treating them as a guaranteed message list.

A few unhurried minutes afterward can be helpful. You might want to write down what felt meaningful, what did not, and how you actually feel. There is no required emotional ending.

Will a mediumship reading take away my grief?

I would never promise that. A reading may offer comfort or a meaningful moment, but it cannot replace your grieving process or the support you may need. I approach mediumship as a spiritual service, not as grief therapy or medical care.

You also do not have to book a reading to prove your love. You are allowed to wait, change your mind, or decide this is not for you.

Getting to know your medium before you book

I am Kelley Eckhardt, an evidential psychic medium based in Sacramento, California. My intention is to create a respectful space where you can explore connection without pressure to believe, perform, or have a dramatic reaction.

Ready to book your first mediumship reading?

You do not need to understand everything about the spirit world before you arrive. You do not need the perfect question. You can come with your curiosity, your nerves, and your love, exactly as you are.

When you feel ready, explore my private reading options and choose the appointment that feels right for you.
